Tandem Health Generated $62.2 Million in Economic Impact in 2024
SUMTER, S.C. – January 8, 2026 - Tandem Health continues to be both a healthcare leader and an economic driver for Sumter County, generating a total economic impact of $62.2 million in 2024, according to an independent analysis conducted by Capital Link.
Tandem Health is the heart of the community, and its mission includes serving as a critical safety net for residents—particularly those with limited access to healthcare. The analysis highlights Tandem Health’s impact across three key areas: economic stimulus, savings to the healthcare system, and care for vulnerable populations.
As a major employer, Tandem Health supported 381 total jobs, including 208 direct positions and 173 additional jobs generated through local spending. The health center also produced $62.2 million in total economic activity, driven by $34.1 million in direct spending and $28.1 million in community spending.
In addition, Tandem Health generated $7.1 million in annual tax revenue, benefiting local, state, and federal public services.
By providing accessible preventive and primary care, Tandem Health helps reduce costly emergency room visits and hospitalizations, easing the burden on the healthcare system while improving health outcomes.
The study was conducted by Capital Link, a national nonprofit with nearly 30 years of experience analyzing the financial and economic impact of community health centers nationwide.
